US1100: University Seminar – Texas State Blog
For mass communication majors (and a few others)
TXStateUS1100.blogspot.com
Assignment: Get out and get involved. You must attend two Common Experience campus events throughout the semester and blog about them. The opportunities are endless (but no, parties don’t count.)
The Blog – Blogging is just a form of publishing on the Internet. Our blog is at http://TXStateUS1100.blogspot.com. Each time you attend a Common Experience a Texas State tradition, you’ll write about it on the blog. Post your event photo as proof you attended or other pertinent images, even video. For example, you might scan in your ticket stub or program and add that to the blog. REMEMBER: This is a public blog, so take that into consideration as you write and always strive for perfect GSP (grammar, spelling and punctuation. We’ll practice blogging in class, and I’ll add you to the How To Blog @ TX State so you can practice.
The proof: I’ll need proof you attended events. Photos work best. Camera phones must be good for something. Acceptable forms of proof that you attended an event: A photo of you at the event (identifiably at the event.) A program signed by a presenter or person in authority with an email or phone number (yes, I will check.) A ticket stub from the event (if it was ticket-controlled.) Swiping your ID at an event where that service is provided (I get a list of all who attended.) If all else fails: A 5-paragraph essay about the event (submitted as your blog entry).
Events:
Common Experience Calendar has a complete listing of events and is often updated, so keep checking back for events that interest you.
EXTRA CREDIT: You may pick up extra credit points by attending 1 extra event or writing about a Texas State tradition. This extra event does not need to be from the Common Experience calendar. You might attend a football game or a mass communication (or other) club meeting. (AND no - parties still do not count.)
